Pat Noonan’s career with the Rapids is over, as he suffered the dreaded disgrace of being “waived.” From the Rapids Website
Noonan appeared in 17 games with nine starts and scored two goals for the Rapids last season after being acquired by Colorado in a trade with the Columbus Crew on June 15, 2009.
Two Points:
- You could see this coming
- This was an absolutely rotten trade for Colorado
On the first point, I remember Pat sitting dejectedly in the locker room at the end of last season. He still was courteous enough to grant me an interview, and I still regard him as a gentleman. However, he admitted himself he was trying to be “dangerous” again. He never achieved that goal with the Rapids.
On the latter matter, we gave up a 2010 MLS SuperDraft natural first-round selection and some cash. In return we got two goals. Sheesh.
The Rapids were right to cut our losses and move on. You were a great guy though Pat…thanks.
