Former Rapids defender Mike Petke has landed with the Red Bulls, as reported at Soccer365.com. Petke was dropped by the Rapids, and heads back to New York where he played from 1998 to 2002. Read more…

The Rapids selected 3 forwards, 2 defenders, and a goalkeeper in the 2009 Superdraft. I have written previously about Colorado’s lack of a quality finisher, hopefully one of these 3 forwards can develop into that role.

Following up on a previous article about Rapid’s defender Cory Gibbs, he has withdrawn from camp and is being replaced by Ugo Ihemelu. Hopefully this bodes well for our defense this season, to have two defenders on Team USA.
Ihemelu has one cap versus Norway, and clearly has better hair than Gibbs. Nonetheless Gibbs’ withdrawal is puzzling.

Colorado Rapids defender Cory Gibbs has been called to the US National Team’s training camp by coach Bob Bradley, as reported on the official Rapids website. Cory missed out on the 2006 World Cup with a knee injury, and will hopefully stay healthy on the road to the South African World Cup.
Gibbs will be the only Rapids player in the training camp, and we wish him well!
