For those who Bleed Burgundy

Cummings’ late goal earns Rapids a valuable point

With precious few minutes remaining, Omar Cummings made a fantastic turn and fired a world class shot off the fingertips of the RSL goalie.

It was a difficult and important point versus our Rocky Mountain rivals. In addition to the challenge of being away against a rival, we were without Mastroeni and Casey who played important roles in the USMNT game vs Honduras.

Colorado was lucky to be even at the half, nil-nil. Findley missed two golden headers, among the 12 shots on goal RSL had vs 2 for the Rapids. Without the muscle of Mastroeni RSL was able to dominate possession. And Casey’s ability to turn a half-chance onto a shot on goal was dearly missed.

After the break Colorado was far more composed. Like a good manager does, Gary Smith brought out a much better side in the second half. That being said, the game was largely controlled by the home team, and the Rapids did well to get a point.

Other notes
- Russell (RSL) received a deserved red in the 82′.
- It was great to see Ross Schunk get in late in the second and play good physical ball
